I'd greatly prefer not to be here right now, but Kokuwamon has told me that I should formally introduce myself.

My name is William Flemming. I was brought here quite against my will--

[At that, Kokuwamon appears on screen behind him, waggling a robotic hand.]

That's not very nice! You shouldn't sound so mean!

Right. Fine. I was given that letter, but I would like to know what it all means. If anyone can tell me I would appreciate it.

[He nods.]

Kokuwamon doesn't know anything, unfortunately.

[He smiles, surprisingly genuine.]

He's a softie.

[Oh, okay, hey, that didn't seem so bad, at least he's not being mean to his partner (or the other way around) like others here. Cam's nerves cool.] Yeah, they just, kinda know they were waiting for us. [A thin smile.]

As for who, er...what's causing it, don't really...know much else. Sorry.

[He is poking and prodding at his robot partner, but he's not being malicious, at least. It seems unwise.]

It seems we are completely in the dark.

[He shrugs.] The worlds are all...merging, they said, so...I guess that's, reason to do something.

It's extremely advanced technology, whatever it is.

Certainly not something I could easily figure out.

I suppose that goes without saying, having a digital world that feels physically real.

Dr. William Flemming.

...Doctor? Uh, like...medical doctor?

PhD.

It's doctor of science. Though I'm honestly not sure how good a medical degree would be in a digital world. I wonder if you can perform surgery on data?

[He lets out a forced, weak laugh and rubs at his neck.] Yeah. Maybe... Possibly? Probably not.

So does that mean you know about...like, pills? Or...just surgery?

Ah... no nothing like that. I only know a bit of basic first aid.

My doctorate is in physics, biology, chemist and engineering.

[And he's...visibly and audibly disappointed.] O...h....

[After a moment, Cam tries to perk back up.] Well, that's. It'll be useful, here, maybe. Engineering? That's...cool.

[Unfortunately, while Flemming detects the disappointment, he doesn't exactly care that much.]

Maybe. Hard to tell without learning more about the situation.

Well... I know at least Miss Shepard'll be glad to see you here. Uh, she's one of the other adults. There's mostly kids, and...she likes getting extra support.

[Not that the kids can't do stuff, of course, but he likes it when Miss Shepard's not as stressed.]

[He nods.]

Her name's Shepard? I'll ask for her. Thanks.
